Today Mr. Vander Zanden and Mrs. Dickerson took the top readers from each grade to lunch. They ordered from McDonald's and headed to the river to eat. They also were able to get ice cream on the way back to school. Great job kids!
We are so blessed with our band/music program at Grant Christian School! Every spring the kids put on a concert. This year our theme was God and Country. This was our most creative concert ever. Our kids sang solos, ensembles, played recorders, put on a Virginia Reel Dance and more. Thank you to Mr. Gordon Neville for giving kids the courage to showcase their talents!
We had a great afternoon at the Whitecaps! Thank you West Michigan Whitecaps for sponsoring this reading month program! 💙⚾️📚
A little band practice outside today!
We love buddy time at GCS! The preschoolers visited the third and fourth graders today, and learned about the lifecycle of chickens. They read a book and did a fun project together! They even got to see real baby chicks that the third and fourth graders hatched from their own flock!
On Tuesday, May 2 our entire middle school went to Sus Manos to perform a service project. The day we served, they were preparing apples. The apples are washed, destemmed, chopped, and loaded onto trays for dehydration. Sus Manos Gleaners seeks to obtain surplus or discarded produce from various sources such as local farmers, corporations, and individuals to be processed and dehydrated using volunteer labor and industrial dehydrating equipment. Once dehydrated, the produce will be compounded into a soup base and fruit snack in such a way as to maximize its nutritional value. This end-product will be packaged in 55-gallon drums to be distributed by various Christian overseas missions as part of their ministry to populations facing critical food shortages. The dried product maintains its nutritional value but is obviously much easier and more economical to ship and maintains a much longer shelf-life.
Mommy morning muffin at Grant Christian preschool!
Yesterday Grant Christian School hosted National Day of Prayer. What a wonderful time to come together as a community, from several counties and different denominations to pray and give praise to a mighty Savior! The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance designated by the United States Congress and held on the first Thursday of May, when people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation".
The 3rd and 4th grade classroom has some "peeping" going on! Several baby chicks hatched yesterday and today.
Our Kindergartners enjoyed a trip to Frederick Meijer Gardens to see the butterflies after completing their insect unit! Many students even got to hold one! 🦋
The first and second graders learned how to make bagels this week. They also went on an outdoor scavenger hunt.
Today our kindergarten class learned about jack rabbits and the second graders learned about pond life. We enjoyed the beautiful outdoors today!
We have eggs, eggs and more eggs! Our 3rd/4th graders are busy collecting every day!
They are available for purchase, $3.00 a dozen. Stop in the office if you are interested.
Yesterday our Preschoolers got to go to Kindergarten for half the day! They learned all about bugs! They had fun searching for bugs inside and out on the playground with their new magnifying glasses!
