First and fifth/sixth grade buddies spent Thursday morning making Thankful Turkeys. We are thankful for the GCS multi-classroom connections and love the relationships formed with Reading Buddies

The preschoolers were excited today when they learned about how the pilgrims popped corn! They were happy to watch it pop and eat it too!

Mark your calendars for upcoming Grandparents Day!

Third and fourth grade STEM students spent time testing what they have learned about Newton's laws of motion. They designed parachutes to toss off the back stairway.

Second grade harvested our first radish from the greenhouse garden and got to taste test it.!

Pumpkin fun! The Kindergartners celebrated pumpkin day today! They painted pumpkin, tasted pumpkin products, investigated pumpkins and explored pumpkins with their 5 senses! They also shared their pumpkin book reports!

Our Kindergartners celebrated Apple Day today! They learned about apples, tasted the three colors of apples, tasted apple products, made apple volcanos, got to make apple projects with their buddies and more! 🍎

We had a great night at our Annual Harvest Festival. We would like to especially thank Rent Smart for providing us with a tent, Moe's Hardware and The Depot for their financial support. There were so MANY people that help make this a great success, we appreciate every one of you!
The first grade class won the "Pumpkin Walk Contest" with their pumpkin farm. It was a very close contest.

Second graders planted flowers this week in the greenhouse during STEM.

Watering the lettuce beds in the greenhouse. Thank you Kindergarteners!

This year at GCS we started a program to reward good behavior. You receive a "star ticket" with your name if you "get caught in the act". That could be for holding the door, picking up trash, helping a friend, helping their teacher, repeating a bible verse, etc. Six names will be drawn out once a month and you are able to pick a prize. Those names then go into a drawing for the end of the year, for the Grand Prize. Each child that earns a star ticket will also get a star (K-4) or a flag (5-8). When their jar is full in their classroom they will receive a class prize.

Wardrobe a little blah? We can help with that! Our new t-shirts will be available at the Harvest Festival this Saturday for $15.00. Get them before they're gone!

Our Preschool and Kindergarten classes had a great trip to the Grant Ashland Fire Station today! They loved seeing all the gear that Firefighters wear and checking out the trucks! They learned all about fire safety!

Today for Chapel Brendon Carroll reminded us to cast our cares upon the Lord.
Great message!
It was also breakfast for lunch. Thank you soccer kiddos for making sure Mr. Elder had enough to eat today.

Fall Break starts October 18th with a half day of school and goes through October 20th. Enjoy your time together!

As you may be aware, the weather isn't looking great for the GCS Harvest Festival, this Saturday, October 14th, but where God closes a door, He opens up a window. We've come up with a plan B! Rain or shine, the 4th Annual GCS Harvest Festival will go on! If it rains, we will move into the school gym. There will still be food trucks, live music, trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting and much more!
We will make the final decision by Wednesday. Stay tuned for updates.

Our K-2 students enjoyed a fun field trip at Lewis Farms today! The rain held off for them and the Lord blessed them with a day full of fun!
We are so thankful for wonderful parents and grandparents who take the time to join us for these extra special days! 💙

Today Anya taught us that Worship Wednesday doesn't just mean singing and dancing! We worshiped God by reading the Bible in our chapel groups! We ended by singing "Joy of the Lord," and encouraging students to bring their bibles to school tomorrow!

What a great day for a Walk-a-thon! These kids did a great job and didn't give up! Thank you to everyone who sponsored a walker and helped support GCS! 💙
Congratulations to Will Scholtens for the most laps! He had a grand total of 30! 🎉

Our students LOVED having the Farm Science Lab trailer at school! Our classes got to take turns experiencing different lessons in the lab! We had a great instructor and Ms. Whiteside enjoyed teaming up with her for two days!
A big THANK YOU to Newaygo County Farm Bureau for sponsoring this event!
