We are having an elementary book swap at GCS! The kids get to bring in books and during the month of March they will get to choose new books to take home!
Our middle schoolers are collecting donations of books for a service project too! If you have any books you'd like to donate, feel free to drop them off at the school office or school library!
GCS will be closed today, February 15th, due to weather.
Today our Kindergartners got to have a PJ day with a movie and icecream sundaes! Why were they so lucky? Well, they earned 55 stars in our behavior program. This means that they put God and others before themselves 55 times!! Wow! 💙 We love watching our students live out our theme!
ALL of our classes preschool-8th grade have now earned 55 stars and are starting to fill their "star jars" back up! 🎉
Our first grade classroom was the first to earn a "Star Party." Students can earn stars (K-4) or flags (5-8) for getting "caught in the act" of doing something good. Each class needs to have 55 stars/flags to earn a reward. They chose an ice cream/movie party. They also were able to wear pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal.
First and second graders spent time learning about the earth and its many layers. They loved learning more about our Creator.
Detroit Lions spirit day today! Go Lions! 💙🦁
Snow sure makes recess fun!
GCS is closed today, January 23rd, due to icy road conditions. Stay safe out there! 💙
The preschool class celebrated daddy donut day today! This is a fun tradition that happens in the preschool class. The Dad‘s come and spend the morning with their kids learning all about things they do when they are at school. The Dads participated in fun projects with the kids and even had the chance to have their face shaved. We ended the day with eating delicious donuts. Thank you to all the dads who took the time out of their busy schedules to spend the morning with their children!
Some fun in the snow!
G'Day, G'Day! Aboriginal Dot Art! Welcome to Australia.
GCS will be closed tomorrow, January 12, due to weather. Stay safe and we will see you on Tuesday.
Our students are LOVING the snow! ❄️
Today was 50th day of school for Preschool! They celebrated by painting 50th rockin day of school crowns and the kids each brought 50 of their favorite snack to make a trail mix for snack time. They are officially 50 days smarter!!!!
Two weeks ago we asked for donations for the Little Bears Closet in White Cloud.
They are partnering with the Newaygo County Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (PCA). On Monday we will be delivering all of the collected items. To encourage participation we asked classes to try to out give each other. The preschool class is leading so far! We will still accept donations through Monday morning.
Our second graders have been working with robotics and talking about how to communicate with the robot to give it instructions. STEM class is so fun!
In STEM the first graders have been talking about inventions. They are bringing them to life using legos.
Today the third and fourth graders helped the preschoolers make a paper chain for a countdown to Christmas. The paper chain is connected to a star to remind us of the star that God put in the sky when Jesus was born. ⭐️
Today at Chapel, Pastor Mike from New Life talked to the kids about not ignoring the warning signs that the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches us a lot about how we should live. Just because it looks good doesn't mean it's good for us! Pastor Connell gave 3 adults chocolate chip cookies. They said they were delicious! He asked for 3 kid volunteers, even though the sign by the cookies said "warning," they were happy to eat them. They were full of salt! When Pastor Mike asked them why did they eat them, they said because the 3 adults did and said they were good! We can be fooled into doing other things because other people are doing it. We can ignore the warning signs because we want it so bad!
As we celebrate the birth of Christ we remember how it started with a baby in the manger and ended up with a man on a cross. Our cross on the school property this morning reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice and the best gift ever given.
These kiddos are just waiting for snow!
